SUMMARY

The Director of Outreach oversees the church’s efforts to implement a key part of its mission: to “Make Jesus Known”. This person leads the congregation in all local and international outreach initiatives. This person should have demonstrated leadership experience, a passion for ministry to those in need, the organizational gifts to oversee large ministry efforts, and the ability to inspire volunteers to invest their time and energy. This role will require organizational leadership and the ability to build teams of volunteers “to equip the saints for the work of ministry”. In its nine years of existence, Pennington Park Church has an already rich history of Outreach. We are excited for this person to take what God has started and continue to grow it so that more and more may know Jesus.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree desired
  • Missions experience from either the sending side or the going side of missions required
  • Demonstrated leadership experience; demonstrated experience in the area of church and/or community outreach

NECESSARY SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proven leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Oversee policies, budget, and ministry goals related to Outreach
  • Inspire the congregation to participate in the Great Commission, both locally and globally
  • Lead the global and local outreach councils
  • Able to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
  • Strategic planning and vision casting related to Outreach
  • Cross-Cultural Ministry Experience

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1) Cast vision and cultivate a passion to see the Great Commission accomplished

  • Look for regular ways to share missions updates and pray for outreach missions in our services
  • Lead, organize and implement the annual REACH global missions conference and similar events
  • Organize, communicate, and fundraise strategic projects for the church’s annual Christmas Offering
  • Seek to platform the call of “all” believers to participate in the Great Commission
  • Work with other directors and pastors to coordinate outreach opportunities for other PPC ministries such as small groups, PPC Students, and PPC Kids

2) Create and cast vision and strategy for outreach at PPC

  • Create a clear and compelling strategy for local and global outreach ministry at PPC
  • Create a clear strategy for what types of ministries with whom we will and will not partner
  • Plan and oversee the budget for global and local outreach

3) Oversee our local outreach ministries

  • Family Advocate Ministry
    • Hands of Hope Care Communities
    • Monthly foster care babysitting nights
  • Lead and organize the annual Fall Festival outreach with the goal of ministering to our local community
  • Cultivate an ongoing relationship with our existing local outreach partners

4) Mobilize the members of PPC to volunteer in PPC’s local outreach ministries

  • Plan and coordinate community projects within the church and the church’s local outreach ministries
  • Communicate outreach opportunities to the congregation in coordination with the Communications Coordinator
  • Equip our members to serve in local outreach

5) Regular contact and prayer with PPC’s missionaries and missions’ partners

  • Maintain frequent check-ins with our missionaries to assess the health, needs and prayer requests of their ministry
  • Communicate the needs of our missionaries to the staff, elders, and members of PPC
  • Facilitate conversations between staff, elders, and missionaries

6) Lead and oversee the Global and Local Outreach Councils

  • Create the agenda for and lead the bi-monthly Outreach Council meetings
  • Seek regular input from the members of these Outreach Councils
  • Add and remove members to and from the councils when necessary according to the council’s policy

7) Manage and organize Vision Trips

  • Cast a vision for going and the importance of seeing the global church first-hand
  • Identify Vision Trips, in partnership with PPC’s global outreach missionaries and partners, in which members of PPC can participate
  • Either lead Vision Trips or recruit and train Vision Trip leaders
  • Organize the trip details (travel, lodging, itinerary, etc.) in partnership with PPC’s missionaries on the ground
  • Travel on vision trips as needed

ANTICIPATED TIME COMMITMENTS AND COMPENSATION

• Full-time, salaried position with full benefits
