Senior Minister

Location: Michigan City Christian Church, Michigan City, Indiana - Situated on the southern shores of Lake Michigan, approximately one hour from downtown Chicago.

The Church: Michigan City Christian Church, a vibrant congregation with a rich history, is seeking a dedicated Senior Minister.

Our mission is to make Christ-like disciples, reaching the un-churched, maturing them to the fullness of Christ, thoroughly equipping each member for the service of the Lord and fulfilling the Lord’s commandment to love the Lord with all our hearts and to love our neighbors as ourselves. We are an independent, Bible Believing, non-denominational Christian Church, committed to following New Testament teachings. Learn more about us at www.MichiganCityChristianChurch.org

This opening arises as our current Senior Minister, who has faithfully served our community for 29 years, transitions to a part-time role focusing on the pastoral care of our Senior Saints. With a membership roster of over 250, the Church has a deep history of ties in the community. Currently, as attendance is on the rise, we are also gratefully receiving ongoing financial support from members who are unable to attend in person. Our church was formed from the merger of Earl Road Christian Church and First Christian Church in 2010, marking a new chapter in our history.

Key Responsibilities: The primary role of the Senior Minister will be to shepherd the congregation, with a special focus on engaging young families and children, encouraging community outreach, and fostering both spiritual and numerical growth. The ideal candidate will be a family-oriented individual, preferably in the young to middle-age range, who is passionate about connecting with young families, teaching the Bible, and leading evangelistic and Christian service projects within the community.

  • Provide spiritual leadership and biblical teaching to the congregation.
  • Develop and implement strategies for community outreach and evangelism.
  • Engage and relate to young families, encouraging their involvement in church life.
  • Work collaboratively with the church's leadership and ministry teams to fulfill the church's mission and vision.

Qualifications:

  • Strong foundation in and commitment to biblical principles.
  • Proven experience in pastoral ministry, with a preference for candidates who have successfully engaged with young families and children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A heart for community service and evangelism.

Team Composition:

The church currently employs a part-time Senior Minister, Children's Minister, Worship Leader, and Secretary.

Compensation:

The starting salary for this position is between $50,000 to $52,000, inclusive of a housing allowance. Please note that the church does not provide a parsonage. A member has volunteered to pay for the selected candidates' moving truck.

Application Process:

Interested candidates are invited to submit a resume and a YouTube video or DVD of a recent sermon at the application here. Additionally, we welcome any questions you may have for the Elders.

Contact Information:

Please apply here and contact Bryan Brownlee, Chairman of the Elders, at bkbrownlee@yahoo.com or call 219-363-7420.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic and visionary minister to lead Michigan City Christian Church into its next phase of growth and spiritual development. We are excited to welcome a leader who shares our commitment to faith, family, and community.
