JOB SUMMARY

The Event Production and Technical Director leads a capable team of contractors and volunteers to support the technical production (AVL) needs of The George and other Crossroads’ sites outside events. They are responsible for ensuring AVL systems' proper use and maintenance for events. This leadership role requires prior experience directing AVL teams. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, train, encourage, inspire, and lead volunteer teams to meet the technical needs of events (audio, video, lights, camera, etc.)
    Oversight of AVL equipment and maintenance schedules.
  • Assist in technical designing and executing set design elements and stage layout changes.
  • Advise on adjustments to audio and video specs as needed.
  • Oversee set up of audio-visual equipment and backstage at events.
  • Review all project requests, and initiate jobs using a standard format, develop project estimate and schedule.
  • Site surveys to determine scope and needs for an event.
  • On site production oversight including load-in/strike of event.
  • Coordination of vendor and supplier shipping and receiving.
  • Stage manage as needed.
  • Manage additional event requirements, pre-event functions, meet and greets, post-event functions as needed
  • Provides any specific talent related event details to security, production credential lists and flame permits / inspection information.
  • Manage all aspects of virtual broadcast and execution including, creating overall format, ensuring seamless end-user experience, securing and prepping speakers, overseeing live-stream production, pre-show logistics, and post-show assessment.
  • Possess strong attention to detail.
  • Oversight of AVL equipment and maintenance schedules.
  • Assist in technical designing and executing set design elements and stage layout changes.
  • Maintain professional relationships.
  • Perform other related ad hoc projects as required.
  • Protects Crossroads’ value by keeping information confidential.
  • Work in close association with the entire staff to build and maintain a strong team environment among our staff and complete the work necessary to fully serve and support the vision and mission of Crossroads.
  • Attend regular ministry team meetings and all-staff meetings and participate in additional meetings when requested to do so.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the manager and Crossroads leadership


JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education Requirements: 

  • Minimum of a college-level production and/or sound engineering classes with 3 years minimum of experience;
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

 
Experience / Skills Requirements:    

  • Must have 3-5 years of relevant work experience with a creative and/or event management company with Event Production expertise.
    Experience with video display technologies, including broadcast cameras, projectors, displays
  • Proficiency with audio consoles and routing (Dante, MADI, Digico consoles)
  • Experience with lighting hardware (GrandMA)
  • Experience with on-line streaming (OBS, Resi)
  • Waves audio plugins and soundgrid experience
  • Video Switching and routing (Ikegami and Panasonic broadcast cameras, Ross Carbonite, BMD)
  • Automation or show control (MIDI triggering, Abelton Live)
  • Experience with DAWs (Abelton Live, Logic Pro X, Pro Tools)
  • Experience with scheduling/planning software (Planning Center Online)
  • Mind for creative stage design and implementation
  • Mac/PC familiarity
  • Strong desire to stay abreast of new technology while balancing reliability and budget
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and leading effective teams (volunteer or staff)
  • Able to work with a minimum of supervision while understanding the necessity for communication and coordinating work efforts with other staff and organizations.
  • Possesses strong organizational, communication, and decision making skills.

  • Advanced communication skills - quick to respond, distribute and follow up on high priority operational items.
    Excellent time management skills.
  • Understands the culture and vision at Crossroads.

Physical Requirements:

  • The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. The job generally requires 20% sitting, 30% walking, and 50% standing.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and move general event items (bike racks, stanchions, stage decks)


Scheduling / Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to work long, irregular hours on your feet for an extended period of time as dictated by events and schedule, this will include nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Travel between sites will be required.
