Job Description:

This can be either full time or part time but there are some evening hours involved as well as hours during the day; individualized work schedules are our norm. Our son has special needs with fine motor skills, balance (ataxia) and is a high functioning autistic adult. He has a part time job and attends classes. His disabilities prevent him from working more so he needs a companion to take him to the gym, social events, to see movies and other activities. This companion will also need to assist with daily living needs such as helping him use his shaver, brush his teeth, prepare simple meals (usually pre-cooked), clean up from eating, making his bed and doing his laundry. There will be down time in this position so the person in this role is free to use that time to read, go online, study for school, etc. while remaining available in case needed. (We have a maid for the heavy cleaning.) This position requires patience, empathy, and a big heart. Exeperience working or living with special needs people is a plus. Must have reliable transportation. Role can be challenging at times but it is always rewarding. Must be willing to submit to and pass background screening, drug testing and skills test. CPR knowledge is a plus as well. Must like cats, since he has a pet cat.
