Job Description:

The full-time Children’s Pastor is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and direction for:

Sunday morning and Wednesday evening Children’s Ministry which includes: Nursery, Sunday School, Pre-School Children’s Church, “Kidventure” Children’s Church, Mpact Girls, and Royal Rangers. This includes identifying and purchasing curriculum and training and equipping Children’s Team(s). Additionally, this person is responsible for leading the seasonal Children’s Ministry Outreach events. It is helpful if this person is able to work with various forms of media such as graphic design, video editing, and audio. This person is a leader of leaders, not just a doer. So they must have the ability to inspire, delegate, and build and maintain ministry teams. This position reports to the Senior Pastor.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

1. Kidventure Children’s Church

  • Actors (practice, props, and scheduling)
  • Worship (songs, kid dancers, worship leaders)
  • Coordinate Weekly Speaker
  • Coordinate volunteers and recruit workers.
  • Maintain a system for maintenance of technical equipment
  • Prepare graphics and videos
  • Maintain guest follow-up system using Planning Center.


2. Explorers Preschool

  • Oversee Coordinator
  • With Coordinator recruit leaders
  • Provide curriculum
  • Provide support and guidance


3. MPact Girls

  • Ensure the ministry is in alignment with the overall vision of the church and children’s department.
  • Work with MPact Girls Coordinator to administrate the MPact Girls Ministry
  • Coordinate annual achievement ceremony

4. Royal Rangers

  • Ensure the ministry is in alignment with the overall vision of the church and children’s department.
  • Work with Royal Rangers Commander to administrate the Royal Ranger’s Ministry
  • Coordinate annual achievement ceremony


5. Nursery Oversight

  • Work with Nursery Coordinator to administrate the Nursery Ministry. Ensure Nursery is provided for special events and services.
  • Purchase snacks, juice, diapers & wipes.


6. Children's Sunday Morning Life Groups

  • Recruit, train, schedule teachers and rooms, and order curriculum for Children’s classes.
  • Work with teachers and staff to resolve philosophical, procedural, and scheduling problems.


7. Outreach

  • Lead the seasonal children’s ministries outreach events.

o Family Fall Fest

o VBS (Mega Sports Camp)

o Easter Outreach

o Summer Camps


8. Family Life Small Groups

  • Recruit and train group leaders to lead family oriented semester-based groups during our spring, summer and fall group semesters.
  • Identify, develop, and/or select family oriented group curriculum study materials. Groups can include but are not limited to topics such as Parenting, Marriage, Single Parenting,

Special Needs Children, Mommy & Me etc.


9. Serve/Volunteers

  • Handle volunteer background screening: 1) ministry applications, 2) reference checks, & 3)

criminal investigations.


10. Administrative

  • Build annual budgets for these areas.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly staff and pastor meetings.
  • Maintain regular contact and communication with office staff, & department heads.
  • Advise the Operations Pastor and Senior Pastor of issues impacting Children's ministries.
  • Develop a system for reporting incidents, accidents, and allegations as quickly as possible.
  • Administrate the check-in and checkout system for Church Services.
  • Organize and conduct meetings for all volunteers: monthly for Kidventure Church and Bimonthly for Family Life Lead Team.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Three to Five years full-time Children’s Ministry experience, and a bachelor’s degree in a Ministry-related field or in Education. A born-again, Spirit-filled believer, walking in progressive sanctification and obedience to God’s Word. Be a tithe- paying member of Evangel. Well-groomed, a self-starter who works well with people. Someone who is organized and committed to integrity, excellence, and innovation. If married, we expect the marriage to be in Biblical order, and that your spouse be supportive of your work in this place. It is expected that employees of Evangel and their dependent family members will attend regular and special church-wide services of the church. This person is a leader of leaders, not just a doer. While he or she must have the core competencies and be able to perform all of the ministry responsibilities, the only way Evangel will see more people saved and growing in Christ, is if this person also has the ability to inspire volunteers, to delegate, and to build and maintain ministry teams.


Professional:

  • Maintain a positive attitude and vision for yourself, the church, staff, board, and Senior Pastor.
  • Develop a godly attitude and witness at all times.
  • Work cooperatively and cheerfully with the members of the Administrative and Pastoral team.
  • Work diligently. Your ministry requires four full days of service, in addition to Sunday’s and other service and meeting times.
  • Arrive at church at least an hour before services begin, and plan to leave as the final saints depart. Purposely stand in foyer or Children’s Ministry entranceway, before and after services, so you can love on the children and the parents.
