Head of School
Long Island Lutheran High School Association
Long Island Lutheran is seeking a seasoned educational leader to become the next Head of School beginning July 1, 2015. The Head of School serves as the Chief Executive Officer of an Association comprising 20 Lutheran congregations. The Association operates two vibrant, faith-based independent schools serving 800+ students from Preschool to Grade 12 on two campuses on Long Island, in suburban NY. The Head of School oversees 130 employees, an active annual fund-raising campaign, and an annual budget of over $12M. In addition, the Association operates a summer program serving over 4,000 K-HS students.
The successful candidate will be a visionary and strategic leader, preferably with significant experience in PreK-12 education. Experience leading multi-campus schools is an advantage. She/he must be able to articulate and communicate a common vision for the schools, encompassing academic innovation and commitment to the schools’ mission; and will actively encourage the school communities to achieve these goals. In addition, she/he will be able to demonstrate previous quantifiable success in developing, implementing and administering educational programs and fundraising initiatives, as well as managing financial, physical, and human resources. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire, engage, and motivate students, teachers, and staff to pursue excellence both in and out of the classroom are a must. Active membership in a Lutheran congregation and a commitment to faith-based education is required. An advanced degree and ordained/called status in a Lutheran church body is preferred.
