We are looking for a godly, elder-caliber man who is devoted to enjoying and exalting God through gospel-centered living. His primary goal will be to facilitate engaging worship services that bring a multigenerational congregation into God's presence, preparing it to both receive and respond to God's Word.
The ultimate goal is to provide the congregation with non-distracting excellence in worship using powerful blended worship elements that are modern and ancient, contemplative and energetic, traditional and innovative.
He should have great excellence in vocal and instrumental (guitar or keyboard) skills. But, he must be able to lead congregation into authentic, participatory worship and not just be a good singer/musician.
He should be able to provide a combination of fresh, familiar and exciting, as well as contemplative musical expressions in corporate worship settings. He will prepare thoughtful transitions that will help move the congregation through the service with scripture, prayer, testimonies, creeds, etc. all which should be tied closely to the theme of the morning's sermon. This prayerful, thoughtful preparation should cultivate an appropriate culture on intentionality for each service.
Calvary Baptist Church is a 100+ year-old North American Baptist Church located in the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania (Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton) with approximately 1500 regular adult members/attendees. There are currently two blended services on Sunday morning with a total attendance of approx. 850 adults. Calvary is committed to being an intergenerational church that strongly promotes community groups, family ministries that enable parents to disciple their children well and has a strong desire to reach the next generation for Christ.
